CASA DA VILA is a Guest House located in the center of Almodôvar village, right in National 2 Road that crosses the interior of Portugal, more exactly at 662 Km.
This old stately family house had a recent recovery intervention that enable it to maintain the architectural local details which gives it a distinguished aspect marked by a common aesthetic sense in 30´s of last century and that nowadays is a rare and valuable architectural heritage. This architectural local details are present not only in the front of the house but also inside and are characterized by the vibrant colors of the doors and window shutters in solid wood, by the plaster of the walls and mainly by the floor with hydraulic mosaic.
The rehabilitation projet allowed not only to convert the house in a Guest House with all the necessary equipments to provide comfort to the guests and an excellence local and near service.

POINTS OF INTEREST
To know Almodôvar is visiting the Mountains Ranges of Caldeirão and Mú, the water courses of the Mira river, the tributaries of the Guadiana. This is a unique place made by collective memory with a history that takes us back to the oldest known writing in the Iberian peninsula - the southwest writing, which developed here around 2500 years ago. This is a land with a rich cultural and natural heritage where we can find the winds and water mills, the haystack, the corveiro, the bread oven. We can also taste the unique flavors of Mediterranean cuisine and listen to Intangible Cultural Heritage polyphonic singing “Cante Alentejano”.

Birdwatching
There are numerous species in this area that will make your stay very interesting for observing and capturing images of birds such as the Bonelli's eagle, the roller, the bee-eater, the Little owl, among many others.
Less than half an hour away, you can also visit the Vale Gonçalinho Environmental Education Center, which annually receives hundreds of visitors, essentially interested in the steppe avifauna.

NACIONAL ROAD 2
It is possible to get to know the heart of Portugal through National Road 2 that crosses the country from one end to the other. This is the longest Portuguese road, with 739.26 kilometers, it is the only one in Europe that crosses a country for its entire length (there are only two more in the world: Route 66, in the USA, and Ruta 40, in Argentina).
Almodôvar is located between km 661 and km 663 and is the perfect stop to rest or gain balance for the challenging curves of Mountains ranges of Caldeirão. From Chaves, in the north almost on the border with Spain, to Faro in Algarve on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the longest Portuguese road provides you with a perfect itinerary to discover the culture and landscape of our country. You can obtain a passport at a Tourist Office which can be stamped at various establishments along the Road, including at our place.
